St. Mary’s Colgan Elementary School

Initially spread over 4 city blocks, we created a master plan to close 2 city streets and privatize a portion of another to create a safe campus-style school environment. This contiguous space allowed room to share between the high school, elementary school, cafeteria, gym and a church with a gathering plaza. Design solutions provided relief to hazardous situations while making the area feel cohesive.

All projects totaled over 81,000 square feet with an elementary school, commons area, 361 FEMA tornado safe rooms, high school competition gym, locker rooms, lobby and concessions stand, expanded administration offices, and entry plaza for the church.
